Marzemino Passito – IGT Veneto

Marzemino Passito – IGT Veneto

The IGT Veneto Marzemino Passito is a sweet red wine that impresses with its violet colour and intensity on the palate. We cultivate Marzemino Nero in a panoramic vineyard surrounded by woods and facing north-west, thus favouring the aromas of this semi-aromatic grape variety.
Among Ca’ Lustra Zanovello’s sweet wines, our Marzemino Passito is the most unusual and also lends itself well to daring pairings.

Pairings with our Marzemino Passito
Our Marzemino Passito is a sweet wine with pulpy hints of ripe red fruit and fruit under spirits. Due to its fullness and balance between sugars, freshness and tannins, it is excellent with chocolate desserts, tarts and some blue cheese. We recommend serving at around 14-16°C.

The history of Marzemino
Appearing in Italy around the 15th century thanks to the sea trade of the Republic of Venice, Marzemino spread to Veneto, Trentino and Lombardy. The Marzemina grape is a rustic variety with a thin and resistant skin that lends itself well to drying. The wine obtained has an impenetrable purple colour and smells of red fruits, plums and dried flowers. Drying Marzemino grapes is an unusual choice that reflects our desire to experiment, giving us an intense, spicy wine.
