Marzemina Bianca: not your usual Marzemino!

Marzemina Bianca: an ancient white grape from the Euganean Hills
Marzemina Bianca is a grape variety of uncertain origins that had almost disappeared from the winemaking history of the Euganean Hills. And, as its name suggests, it is a white grape variety, quite different from the better-known Marzemino.
We rediscovered it through a research project on ancient grape varieties launched in the early 2000s. Today, we are expanding its cultivation because of its valuable agronomic qualities: its natural resistance to pathogens and its ability to ripen well even in hotter, more challenging vintages make it a variety we believe in, including for the future. Our Marzemina Bianca vineyards are located in Faedo, in the heart of the Euganean Hills, where sun exposure and constant ventilation favour slow, even ripening.
Production is still limited and currently intermittent, depending on how much fruit we are able to grow. The wine belongs to Ca’ Lustra’s "Author's Proofs" line, dedicated to experimentation.
Would you like to try it? Our "MARZ 0124" is available at the winery. This still white wine makes a pleasant aperitif, but is far from ordinary. Soft and medium-bodied, it offers good savouriness and a lingering finish. Floral and aromatic notes are complemented by hints of pepper and balsamic herbs, followed by almond and dried-fruit nuances on the finish.
