Sgussa – Vino Rosso
A rustic wine with an excellent drinkability, that takes its name by the nearby located typical trattoria “Da Sgussa”. It is made by blending Carbenet Franc and Carménère, which we cultivate in the Faedo Valley.
The volcanic soil consists of trachytic rock clasts and is fairly fertile. The Carménère vineyard, one of the oldest of our winery (planted about 60 years ago), goes on with a pure quality yield joined by the younger and vigorous Cabernet Franc.
Cabernet Franc e Carménère
In the Faedo Valley a young Cabernet Franc accompanies the much older Carménère, on a volcanic fairly fertile soil.
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. It macerates for about one week on the skins, then it ferments in tonneaux for 6 months and finally rests in cement tanks for 12 months.
Service and pairing
To be served at about 18°C. It improves during first years, perfect for aging 3-5 years. Fruity and herbaceous, with good freshness and sapidity, it is the ideal companion for veal rolls, mature cheese, roasts and braised meat.
