Colli Euganei and Vipava: a comparison of rosé wines

Our journey through the world of wine continues with the "Guest shelf", a dedicated space in our shop for discovering and comparing different wines and territories. Alongside one of our own bottles, we periodically feature a selection from another winery, creating a themed tasting experience to be enjoyed at home.

This time we chose an intriguing spring-inspired duo: Rosato Zanovello and Rosé Batič from Slovenia. Same grape varieties, different origins, but both grown on limestone soils, resulting in remarkable minerality and excellent aging potential. Let’s explore them in more detail.

Zanovello Rosato 2021

A rosé wine from Merlot and Cabernet grapes grown in Arquà Petrarca, in the southeastern area of the Colli Euganei, one of the warmest regions in our territory. The shallow, limestone-rich soil, full of rock fragments, gives this wine great structure, a vivid, rich color and complex aromas and flavours. Aged for about a year and a half in large barrels and concrete tanks. Organic.

Batič Rosé 2023

A rosé wine from Cabernet and Merlot grapes cultivated in the Vipava region of Slovenia, on limestone and clay soils. Here, mediterranean and continental climates meet, with excellent ventilation and significant temperature shifts. The result is a wine that is both fresh and concentrated. Aged in stainless steel until the spring following the harvest. Biodynamic.

We look forward to welcoming you to the winery to discover more about this project and our wines.
