Serprina (Glera)

Vineyard Serprino Venda

What is the difference between Serprino and Prosecco? Although both originate from the Glera grape, the distinction is profound and begins with the terroir. In the Euganean Hills the local biotype of Glera is historically known as Serprina: an ancient clone that has flourished here since Roman times. Today, the choice between producing Serprino or Prosecco depends on the production regulations (Disciplinare): Serprino DOC Colli Euganei is governed by stricter rules that preserve its territorial identity. The result is an agile and mineral wine, with scents of flowers and fresh fruit and a characteristically smooth finish.
