Catarratto IGP Terre Siciliane
Catarratto – IGP Terre Siciliane
Catarratto is an ancient grape variety that has elected Sicily as its favourite area. Our organically managed vineyards cover the hills of the hinterland and are positively affected by the mild wind from the sea. From their grapes we obtain a dry and straightforward wine with floral and herbal hints, pleasantly fresh.
Pairings with our Catarratto
Our Catarratto goes well with bread and panelle, fish, fried food and pasta dishes on a warm summer evening. Serve at 8-10°C.
The history of Catarratto
Catarratto, a grape variety widespread throughout the Sicilian island, experienced its fortune between the 18th and 19th centuries as it was suitable for producing Marsala, a liqueur wine made using the soleras method. After World War II, Catarratto was also appreciated as a traditional white table wine.
It is characterised by an important acid shoulder that enhances its taste freshness and aromaticity. It is currently the most widely cultivated grape variety in Sicily.
